In the long term Balkans Peace Park Project is seeking to support ecological, eco-tourist, sustainable industry and similar projects in the area. We envisage these projects being led by the needs and considerations of local people, and will involve both local and international workers and volunteers. The BPPP has carried out local consultations to determine what the focus of our projects should be.
Our next project to be developed in response to these consultations will be a:
Through increased involvement of Balkans Peace Park supporters and collaborators in the regions, the needs of the people of the area are becoming clearer. One aspect of local people’s interest is in learning English and also implementing methods to keep the environment in its natural state. In response, BPP/BPPP is developing a project.
This project aims to establish a two-month summer school in Thethi, a village in northern Albania. The school will offer English language courses to young people aged 6-18 years. The courses will offer the children the possibility to learn English and will also train them in environmental awareness
We have a number of individuals interested in working on this project, in various capacities, including interest from rangers of the Yorkshire Dales National Park
The summer school will take place in the state-owned Thethi School. The children will be divided in two groups, according to age. The project aims to raise environmental awareness throughout the whole community with a weekly practical activity alongside the young people.
