- LETTER OF SUPPORT
In June 2009, Antonia Young visited the Morokulien Peace Park founded in l9l4 (following a decison from the Nordic peace congress in l9l0) on the borders of Sweden and Norway. She met with Christina Oster, Chairman of Fredsplassens Venner (Sweden see www.fredsmonumentet.com), and Knut Gustav Wole, Major of Eidskog Comune (Norway see www.eidskog.kommune.no), The site contains a monument to peace between the two countries, a tourist and information centre erected across the border, and a planting of trees, dedicated by ministers of both countries.
Christina's letter provides inspiration and a vision for the future of the Balkan Peace Park, and European Peace Parks in general:
"Dear Antonia,
In Morokulien it is high season right now, about 3-4 buses with tourists coming in every day; people from Poland, South Korea, Brazil, Greece and many other corners of the world. Wouldn't it be great if at least the European Peace Parks could have a common brochure for visitors, including the new one being established in Russia/Finland?
Best regards and all the best
Christina"
